FIBER FUN FOR KIDS...age 9 and upfiberfun

Explore the fun of fiber with us this summer. Join us for one or more weeks of fiber-filled activities.
Week 1: Fiber Fun with Two-needle Knitting
Tues., Wed., Thurs., Fri., July 10, 11, 12, 13 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Learn to knit, cast on and bind off while making a little purse to hold your treasures.
Week 2: More Fiber Fun
Tues., Wed., Thurs., Fri., July 17, 18, 19, 20 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Expand your fiber experience with weaving, finger knitting, "fill the gap" cord making and other fun activities with yarn. Just wait 'til you see what you can create!

Weekly fee: $95 plus $20 materials fee

"KNIT & CRUISE"

Treat yourself to a relaxing two hours of knitting while cruising in an electric Bay Boat. We provide the captain - you bring your project (plus lunch and beverage if you wish). Gather your friends. No instruction, just fun! Limit 8 per boat. You must sign up by 4 p.m. the Sunday before; you may reserve your spot for as many dates as you wish.
Fee: $15 per person for two hours of cruising.
Wednesdays (weather permitting) 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. 

 

weavingNEW!!!! WEAVING WORKSHOPS with CARLA HUBBART

Curious about weaving? Now you can learn to weave on a Cricket rigid heddle loom right here at ABYC! Carla will teach you to set up the loom and weave a beautiful scarf using Mountain Colors yarns. This little loom is the equivalent of a 2-harness loom, allowing you to weave items such as table runners, placemats, purses, bags and more. The skills and techniques you learn using a rigid heddle loom also transfer to other types of looms, including table and floor looms. Another great way to play with fabulous yarns!

Spinning Workshops with Angie Miller

PLYING 101

Bring your singles and let's ply! In this class you will learn about all the ways to ply. Angie will cover balanced and unbalanced 2-ply, 3 ply, Navajo or chain plying, Andean plying and cable plying.

Prerequisite: Beginning spinning or 6 hours of spinning practice.

One session.
Workshop fee: $35, plus materials and $5 wheel rental fee (if needed)

1:00 - 3:30 p.m.

Skill Level: Adv. Beginner to Intermediate

SPINNING COLOR

This class will explore the world of spinning color. Angie will discuss color basics, opacity and color mixing. You will spin yarns that are variegated, self-striping and tweed. You will also blend for color at the wheel and with handcards.

One session.
Workshop fee: $35, plus materials and $5 wheel rental fee (if needed)

Sunday, August 5
1:00 - 3:30 p.m.

Skill Level: Adv. Beginner to Intermediate

CORESPINNING

This class is the first in a series of spinning novelty yarns. You will learn to spin on a core with wool top and mohair locks. You will also learn how to core ply a boucle yarn and create yarns with coils and bobbles.

Prerequisite: Students must be able to spin a sound singles yarn.

One session.
Workshop fee: $35, plus materials and $5 wheel rental fee (if needed)
