STRANDED MOTIFS WORKED with BEADS WORKSHOP* 1:30-4:30 p.m. Incorporate the glitter and glow of beads into your knitting by depicting stranded motifs with beads instead of yarn. You'll learn and gain practice beading with the crochet hook method while following a chart for a beaded cuff, fingerless mitts. Stephannie will also discuss how to choose suitable motifs and incorporate them into other projects. Workshop fee: $50, plus $10 materials Skill Level: Intermediate

FELTED FLOWERS 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Have fun creating a spectacular flower using traditional (wet) felting techniques. These flowers look fabulous decorating a jacket, necklace, bag, or as a hair piece. Wool roving, silk tops and beads will be used to create your very own floral tribute. Workshop fee: $50, plus $8 materials fee

WEAVING WORKSHOPS with CARLA HUBBART
Intro to Weaving
Curious about weaving? Now you can learn to weave on a Cricket rigid heddle loom right here at ABYC! Carla will teach you to set up the loom and weave a beautiful scarf using a variety of yarns. This little loom is the equivalent of a 2-harness loom, allowing you to weave items such as table runners, placemats, purses, bags and more. The skills and techniques you learn using a rigid heddle loom also transfer to other types of looms, including table and floor looms. One Session. Workshop fee: $75, plus materials and $20 loom rental fee Sunday, Jan. 27 or Sunday, Feb. 17 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. or Monday, Mar. 11 and Tuesday Mar. 12 6:00-9:00 p.m.
WEAVE AN ORIGINAL! Skill Level: Know how to warp loom
Weavers will learn several hand-controlled and open- or lace-weave techniques. Open weaves can be used as borders, rows, or as an overall pattern. These techniques cannot be duplicated by machine; the fabric becomes absolutely one-of-a-kind. Loom must be brought to class warped and ready to weave. One session. Workshop fee: $35, plus materials and $20 loom rental fee Monday, Jan. 14 6:30-9:00 p.m. or Saturday, Mar. 2 1:00-4:00 p.m.
FINISHING TOUCHES for WEAVERS Skill Level: Know how to warp loom
Weavers will complete samplers with various hemming, knotting and fringing techniques that can be used on hand-woven pieces. Loom must be brought to class warped and ready to weave. One session. Workshop fee: $35, plus materials and $20 loom rental fee Tuesday, Feb. 5 6:30-9:00 p.m.

SPINNING LAB with ANGIE MILLER
Skill Level: Beginning to Intermediate
Join us in creating community around spinning yarn. Bring your own wheel or drop spindle, lazy kate and spinning questions and concerns. We will hang out and spin together while we see what yarns people are making, talk about different techniques for plying, or just make new friends that love making yarn as much as you do! Angie will introduce a new fiber and spinning technique during the LAB.
