FELTED FLOWER LARIAT WORKSHOP
with SARA SMELT of FELT EVOLUTION
Sunday, May 19
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Create your own felted flower lariat using wet felting techniques.
You'll learn to felt multiple elements together - there's no stitching or gluing!
Be prepared for all the compliments you'll receive whenever you wear this unusual piece.
Wool roving and silk tops of your choice will be used to create a bloom that even nature will envy.
Workshop fee: $60, plus $7 materials fee
"KNIT & CRUISE"
Treat yourself to a relaxing two hours of knitting while cruising in an electric boat.
We provide the captain - you bring your project (plus lunch and beverage if you wish)
Gather your friends. No instruction, just fun!
Limit 8 per boat. You must sign up by 4 p.m. the Sunday before.
Fee: $15 per person for two hours of cruising

Explore the fun of fiber with us this summer. Join us for one or more weeks of fiber-filled activities.
Week 1: Fiber Fun with Two-needle Knitting
Tues., Wed., Thur., Fri., July 9, 10, 11, 12 • 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Learn to knit, cast on and bind off while you make a cute stuffed animal.
Aferwards you can accessorize your little critter with a scarf or hat.
Week 2: More Fiber Fun
Tues., Wed., Thurs., Fri., July 16, 17, 18, 19 • 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Extend your fiber experience with weaving, finger knitting, "fill the gap" cord making and other fun activities with yarn. Just wait 'til you see what you can create!

Intro to Weaving
Curious about weaving? Now you can learn to weave on a Cricket rigid heddle loom right here at ABYC! Carla will teach you to set up the loom and weave a beautiful scarf using a variety of yarns. This little loom is the equivalent of a 2-harness loom, allowing you to weave items such as table runners, placemats, purses, bags and more. The skills and techniques you learn using a rigid heddle loom also transfer to other types of looms, including table and floor looms.
Workshop fee: $75, plus materials and $20 loom rental fee

COLOR & WEAVE...PLAID'S LITTLE COUSIN Skill Level: Know how to warp loom
Color & weave is a technique that uses a sequence of light, dark and color to create a narrow plaid-like design. Varying the warp sequence and the weft order produces a lively fabric.

FINISHING TOUCHES for HANDWEAVERS* Skill Level: Know how to warp loom
Weavers will complete samplers with various hemming, knotting and fringing techniques that can be used on hand-woven pieces. Loom must be brought to class warped and ready to weave.

CHECKS & PLAIDS & STRIPES, OH MY!!
In this class you will combine color order changes and the rigid loom's plain weave structure for incredible design possibilities. "Oh my" is right!! You'll explore color to create checks, plaids and/or stripes, and then weave a scarf using one of these elements. Pre-requisite: Completion of "Intro to Weaving" at ABYC or equivalent.

SPINNING CLASSES with
Skill Level: Beginning to Intermediate
Join us in creating community around spinning yarn. Bring your own wheel or drop spindle, lazy kate and spinning questions and concerns. We will hang out and spin together while we see what yarns people are making, talk about different techniques for plying, or just make new friends that love making yarn as much as you do!
Angie will introduce a new fiber and spinning technique during the LAB.
Workshop fee: $25, per session, plus materials and $5 wheel rental fee (if needed)

BEGINNING WHEEL SPINNING WORKSHOP
Skill Level: Novice
This is a beginning class for those who want to spin yarn with the speed of a wheel. You will learn the parts of the wheel and how it works, drafting with the short forward draw and the over-the-fold back draw, plus basic plying. Angie has four wheels available for rent, so sign up early to secure your wheel.
