Skill Levels, Homework & Pattern Purchasing

When signing up for a class, please note the skill level required and if there is homework.
If you do not hear about homework from us, please call the shop and inquire. Homework is designated by an * after the class name.

Novice: Never even held a pair of knitting needles? You are a novice.

Advanced Beginner: Know how to cast on and bind off, knit and purl, increase and decrease without supervision.

Intermediate: Know a variety of stitches, how to use double points, knit in the round, and mid-level shaping without supervision.

Advanced: Know lace stitches and intricate stitch patterns, Fair Isle, and how to short row without supervision.

PATTERN INFORMATION: What does “purchase at shop”, “in-store Ravelry purchase” or “obtain at Ravelry.com” all mean? If a pattern on the ABYC Materials List indicates it can be purchased at the shop, that’s easy. We’ll just charge you for the pattern and hand you a hard copy. Some Ravelry patterns allow you to pay “in-store” and then Ravelry sends it to your Ravelry account or to your personal email. There are still other Ravelry patterns that you can download either free or with payment on your own.

NOTE: If there is a class that you would like to take but it’s not offered when you are available, please let us know. Often we get requests to add a class at a different time, day, etc. If there are enough people interested we will certainly try and do that.

Class Policy: Class fee must be paid in advance to reserve your space. Class materials must be purchased at the shop in advance of the class. Teachers reserve the right to cancel a class with less than three sign-ups or a KAL with less than five sign-ups.

Cancellation Policy: Class and workshop fees are refundable or transferable up to two weeks before the start of the class. We cannot refund or transfer after that.

Time and time again we hear that one appeal of your LYS is the sense of community you find with all of the classes, groups and special events offered. So in order to expand those activities to even more of you we are making some changes to the schedule we have kept since we opened in 2000!

We will continue to be open seven days a week. You seem to enjoy the additional classes we have been able to add on Mondays, plus there is a lot of easy, free parking, and we like seeing you!

"Drop-in Help with Debbie" will change a little. The schedule will now be:

Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
(first Thursday morning only of each month with Mary Lamme)

Saturdays 9 a.m. - Noon
Thursday evenings 6:30 - 9 p.m.

Thursday evenings will become our "late night" and we will be open until 9:00 p.m. We hope you will come enjoy shopping, joining "Drop-in Help with Debbie," and attending other classes.
We will close at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evenings.

We know that many of you enjoy knitting, crocheting and weaving together in the Annex.
So we are now designating "Tuesday afternoons" as "Special Group Day." Take advantage of any or all of these activities to meet new fiber enthusiasts whose special interests match yours.

Discover new friends, new interests…and new yarns!

Sock Club
First Tuesday of each month  2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

All sock knitters know that their knitting goes around and around. So why not share that time with others going in circles? Who knows what patterns and tips you may discover---and the fun and laughs you will have.

Charity Knitting/Crocheting returns!
Second Tuesday of each month  2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
We know from the incredible amount of finished items we receive for Knots of Love and other wonderful charities that we have many loyal and productive charity knitters/crocheters in our midst. There is always someone in need so we hope you’ll come enjoy our Annex, learn about the many types of projects you can make, and discover the perfect yarn for your projects. From time to time we will offer short classes on special techniques you may want for your projects.

Book and Fiber Club
Third Tuesday of each month  2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Join with other "fiber" lovers to knit, crochet or weave away while exploring the latest and best recommendations in literature. Diane Riska-Taylor (former librarian and major knitter) will be on hand to facilitate and help with book suggestions.
