FIBER FUN FOR KIDS...age 9 and up

Explore the fun of fiber with us this summer. Join us for one or more weeks of fiber-filled activities.
Week 1: Fiber Fun with Two-needle Knitting
Tues., Wed., Thurs., Fri., July 10, 11, 12, 13 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Learn to knit, cast on and bind off while you make a cute stuffed animal.
Afterwards you can accessorize your little critter with a scarf or hat.
Week 2: More Fiber Fun
Tues., Wed., Thurs., Fri., July 17, 18, 19, 20 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Expand your fiber experience with weaving, finger knitting, "fill the gap" cord making and other fun activities with yarn. Just wait 'til you see what you can create!

Weekly fee: $95 plus $20 materials fee

Spinning Workshops with Angie Miller

SILK FIBERS

You will learn to spin silk and silk blends from a variety of preparations including roving, hankies and caps.

The class covers spinning styles – worsted, long draw and over-the-fold, adjusting your wheel for silk spinning, creating texture with silk, color blending with dyed silk and cable plying.

Please bring lazy kate and hand carders if you have them.

One session.
Workshop fee: $30, plus materials and $5 wheel rental fee (if needed)

Sunday, March 25
1:00 - 3:30 p.m.

BEGINNING SPINNING

This is a beginning class for those who want to spin yarn with the speed of a wheel.

You will learn the parts of the wheel and how it works, drafting with the short forward draw and the over-the-fold back draw, plus basic plying.

Angie has four wheels available for rent, so sign up early to secure your wheel.

Two sessions.
Workshop fee: $55, plus materials and $5 wheel rental fee (if needed)

Sundays, April 22 & 29
1:00 - 3:30 p.m.

INTERMEDIATE SPINNING with Cellulose Fibers

Learn how to adjust your wheel and spin various plant fibers such as cotton, bamboo, hemp, flax and tencel.

You will also card cotton, make a puni and spin it using atakli support spindle.

One session.
Workshop fee: $30, plus materials and $5 wheel rental fee (if needed)

Emergency Measures

Saturday May 5 • 9a.m. - Noon

Sometimes the most insight comes from the struggle one faces when something really goes wrong but there are remedies for most any kind of knitting disaster. Leanring these can turn a problem project into a wearable garment while teaching us to be more intuitive and confident knitters.

Sally will discuss the problems that confront most knitters, plus what to do if garments are too wide, too short, too long, too narrow or too out-of-date. She'll also cover if a bad color choice was made, if edges don't hold up, if you run out of yarn, forget to make a pocket or experience a laundry disaster.

Workshop fee: $60

Essential Skills

Saturday, May 5 • 2:00p.m. - 5:00p.m.

No matter how advanced and accomplished you are, there are probably bad habits and/or holes in your knitting repertoire. Do you rely on the same cast on, bind off, increase and decrease? Are you counfounded by selvedge stitches? Perhaps you knit without being aware that you have choices.

This workshop explores and explians the many techniques we should all know and we'll discuss which are best suited to each situation and why. There will be lots of hands-on practice!

Workshop fee: $60
Skill level: Confident Adv. Beginner and up

Making The Most Of Your Yarn Collection

Sunday, May 6 • 9:00a.m. - 4:00p.m.

Learn from a real expert! Sally will share ideas on how to use, manage and replenish your yarn collection. We'll discuss the problems inherent in using multiple yarns and colors and which go together. We'll see which stich patterns will accomodate different weights and colors best, talk about how to arrange a yarn collection to make the most of it, and much more. There will be hands-on practice!

Workshop fee: $95

Tunisian Crochet Workshop with Barry Kleinklein barry

Sunday, May 27 • Noon - 4:00p.m.

Tunisian Crochet is an older technique coming back to life with a young enthusiastic feeling. You'll pick a group of yarns and use a large crochet hook that has a tail...with that, you will create a scarf, wrap, shawl or even a blanket...the choice is yours. Tunisian crochet is easy to learn - and th fun part is using lots of different yarns and textures to tell a color story that is unique to you.

You'll do this with Barry and spend the aftgernoon creating something truly Trendsetter and truly yours!
Workshop fee: $20 that will be applied to your materials purchased that day
