CH26: Weaving Double Width with Two Heddles



Weaving with two heddles expands your loom’s capabilities. You will learn how to weave in layers to double the weaving width of your loom. The beginning double weave project is a sweet two-color baby blanket. Or continue to perfect your double weave skills with the Big Bad Blankie! Models are in the shop for yarn and color choices.

Completion of Intro to Weaving at Alamitos Bay Yarn Company or equivalent is recommended.
You should be able to independently warp a rigid heddle loom.

Materials and Equipment: Loom with TWO heddle capacity and 15" to 25' weaving width minimum, two 5-dent reeds, two shuttles, two pick-up sticks 20" to 28" length minimum. Yarn is bulky, cotton blend in two colors - 250 yards each color for the baby blanket or 1400 yards total for the Big Bad Blankie.

***Yarn must be purchased and wound, if necessary, before the first day of class.

Requirements:
Please bring your loom, accessories and these supplies, to all weaving classes: warping peg, heddle hook, brown paper to fit the width of back beam, waste yarn, cardboard roll to fit front beam, scissors, tapestry needle, pencil, paper for note-taking.

Carla has been sewing, knitting, and weaving along with other fiber arts for over 50 years and is fascinated by all aspects of each. She has been teaching rigid heddle weaving at Alamitos Bay Yarn Company for the last nine years and she's still having fun.
