Beginning Knitting

This is a class for new knitters or those picking it back up. In this class, you will learn to cast on, knit, purl and cast off. In the second session, you can discuss and start a simple 'first' project - choose from a scarf, dishcloth or hat.
Materials and Equipment:
Yarn: Any worsted weight yarn - a solid, light color is preferable - 200 yards or more
Recommended Yarns: Malabrigo Rios or Merino del Sol
Needles: US #8 24-inch circulars
Notions: tapestry needle, scissors
Pencil and paper for note-taking
***Yarn for the class must be purchased at Alamitos Bay Yarn Company before the first day of class. Yarn in skeins must be wound before the first day of class.***
Please Note: If necessary, class and workshop fees can be transferred to another class or credited to your account up to two weeks before the start of the class. We cannot credit accounts or transfer after that.

| Instructor Bio: | Becky is a retired teacher and principal from Northern California and recently moved with her husband to Long Beach. Becky learned to knit and do a variety of needle crafts as a young girl. She re-learned how to knit when pregnant by knitting an Aran sweater while she was living in Scotland. Becky enjoys knitting for gifts, learning new techniques and sharing her skills with others. |
