AA26: My First Pair of Socks!
This class will introduce you to knitting socks with an easy top-down pattern - perfect for your first pair! Learn the parts of a sock, including turning the heel, along with how to use double-pointed needles (DPNs). Pattern available in sizes child through adult large and can be tailored to fit. Socks can be knitted in either worsted weight or fingering weight yarn - choose 2 mini skeins if you'd like to do a contrast heel and toe like the shop sample.
Materials and Equipment:
Yarn: One skein of any worsted weight yarn; OR fingering weight yarn. Be sure to purchase the corresponding pattern for your yarn weight below.
Recommended Yarns: Malabrigo Rios or Alegria Grande for worsted; OR Baah La Jolla for fingering; PLUS choose two mini skeins if you'd like to do contrast heel and toe with fingering
Needles: US #3 and #5 DPNs for worsted weight; OR US #1 and #2 DPNs for fingering weight (set of 5 DPNs are needed)
Notions: tapestry needle, row counter, locking stitch markers, stitch holder (optional)
Pencil and paper for note-taking
