AW10: Overshot Rigid Heddle Towels



Weave a set of three cotton and linen towels using a pick-up stick to create a unique and absorbent texture. Once you make one set, you'll immediately want to make another. 

Completion of Intro to Weaving at Alamitos Bay Yarn Company or equivalent is recommended. 
You should be able to independently warp a rigid heddle loom.

Materials and Equipment Required: Loom with 15" minimum weaving width, 12-dent reed, 3 shuttles, 1 pick up stick.
Yarn needed:
2 cones of Mallo Cotton Slub by Gist in two different colors. (Model was made with Eclipse and Steel)
1 cone of Duet Cotton/Linen by Gist (Model was made with Anchor)
Yarn for the class must be purchased at Alamitos Bay Yarn Company before the first day of class.


Please Note: If necessary, class and workshop fees can be transferred to another class or credited to your account up to two weeks before the start of the class.

In this class you will learn to use a pick-up stick to create weft floats for a uniquely textured towel.

Requirements:
Please bring your loom, accessories, and these supplies to all weaving classes: warping peg, heddle hook, brown paper to fit the width of the back beam, waste yarn, cardboard roll to fit front beam, scissors, tapestry needle, pencil, and paper for note-taking.

Instructor Bio:
Amanda has been creating with fiber for almost twenty years. After taking numerous art classes in college including ceramics, intaglio printing, and wood carving, Amanda became a self-taught crocheter in 2003. She picked up the love of weaving and knitting over the last several years through classes at Alamitos Bay Yarn Company. Amanda has taught rigid heddle weaving with Carla since 2019.
