SDC300: How to Knit a Cable



Cables are a popular technique used in many knitting patterns to create interlocking turns and twists. Cables may look difficult or confusing, but give them a try and see for yourself how easy they can be.
In this single 2 hour class let us show you how to make a simple cable pattern and perfect your technique using a cable needle. 
We will talk about the structure of a cable stitch, how to read a cable pattern and see what one looks like on a chart. 

Supplies:
Yarn: Worsted weight yarn, the sample is 95 yds (you will need at least 400 yds if you are making a scarf). 
Needles: size 8 and a corresponding sized cable needle.

Prerequisites: You must be able to do these without assistance
Cast on
Bind off
Knit and purl in the same row.
Read a written knitting pattern. 

Homework: Be sure your to have your supplies and your yarn wound, if necessary, before the day of class.

Note: Class and workshop fees can be credited to your account or transferable up to two weeks before the start of the class. We cannot credit accounts or transfer after that.

Class size is limited and masks are required.

Requirements:
Must be able to cast on, bind off, knit and purl in the same row and read a knitting pattern without assistance. Have Alamitos Bay yarn purchased and wound if needed before the day of class.
